quick premise: this is not a typical japanese restaurant, you won't find sushi or many other staples. this is one of those places where they specialize in doing only one thing and doing it extremely well (although they do have some other things on the menu). in this case, the one thing is okonomiyaki, a pancake/omelette made with a number of fillings and ingredients mixed with cabbage, scallion, egg and flour and cooked on a hot plate on your table right before your very eyes. the food is excellent, i had an okonomiyaki with natto and konjac, and another with a mix including konjac, lotus root, pork and beef (the latter was tender and juicy). do not underestimate the size of each okonomiyaki: a super deluxe alone is enough to fill a regular belly to the brim! they also had umeboshi onigiri which i was very happy to peruse as i absolutely love umeboshi. i tried the dried fish flakes and didn't mind them, and i generally utterly detest fish so this is a memorable occurence. service: if i could exceed the 5 star rating i would, absolutely on the top 3 of best services i ever had in a place (probably only on par with an anonymous and empty pizza restaurant in georgia, usa). joel was both our server and our chef as he cooked our okonomiyaki all the while discussing their origin (they're a typical dish from the kansai region) and making pleasant conversation. the rest of the staff has been extremely pleasant as well. also of note a great consideration for allergies and preferences, joel asked us beforehand if it was all right to use the same instrument set for all the okonomiyaki (it was fine in our case but we appreciated the gesture a lot). it's unfortunately a bit on the expensive side but all in all we still think the quality of it all was worth the price. bottom line: absolutely consider visiting, try to reserve in advance if you can as the place is a bit small and quite popular at the same time. we'll definitely return on one of our coming trips to london!

Excellent food, prepared on the hot plate right on the table. We had the okonomiyaki and also the natto and miso soup and some onigiri; both the natto and the okonomiyaki were prepared on the hot plate by our server Joel. He was very knowledgeable and kind and answered all our questions. It was overall a great experience! Thanks Joel! Be sure to book in advance and be there on time since there is a lot of demand.

The food was great and at a decent price point, but I wanted to point out the exceptional service. This is was our first time here and the 2 staff members who served us were so friendly and knowledgeable about the cuisine, couldn’t compliment them enough. Only knocked one star off the service because the seats are a little close together to other tables as it’s a small place. Would happily return here.

Amazing okonomiyaki experience with tableside cooking! We had okonomiyaki with its unique cheese-salmon-pork combo. Super friendly staff and great service, delicious flavors! And the matcha ice cream is really tasty. Definitely recommend it and will come back again!

My favourite restaurant for okonomiyaki! The service is always very good and the members of staff who cook the okonomiyaki on the grill take the time to explain what ingredients are inside too. Personal recommendation would be to get the osaka pork, kimchi and prawn okonomiyaki, the niyakko tofu and the chicken om-soba.

Incredible experience! The okonomiyakis are so good with a vast choice of tastes. Made by a lovely and expert staff. A lot of vegetarian options as well. Don’t forget to make a reservation if you want to eat here!

A truly delightful dining experience! The Okonomiyaki tasted like it came straight from Japan, and the beef teppanyaki was melt-in-your-mouth tender and flavorful. Watching the chef prepare our meal right in front of us was a treat. Reservations are essential, as this restaurant is understandably a local favorite.

Me and my partner went to Abeno for their valentine set menu for the first time and we absolutely loved the visit! The set menu definitely worth the price too. The service, store atmosphere are just on point, they even wrote our name in japanese in advance how cute! But what makes us returning to this restaurant is their food quality! Everything is perfectly cooked and seasoned which you can actually feel the texture and flavour of each ingredient. For the okonomiyaki, even though there were so many ingredients it won’t be too salty or any one of the ingredients stealing all the flavour like the batter itself, it won’t be too cakey or too floury flavour. You can first taste the vegetable, the sauce, the aonori seaweed flakes, the meat and the egg. The okonomiyaki is also well cooked which you can still taste the crunchiness of the cabbage! We loved the hot cake dessert too! Usually when eating this type of pancake we would add extra syrup or butter but this cake is perfectly sweet, buttery and flavourful, not too cakey or floury. Even the mochi itself is SO chewy and able to taste the glutinous rice flavours. Combining the matcha ice cream and red bean, it’s just amazing! If I had to be picky, I’d say the experience felt a bit rushed, with one dish arriving right after another. However, that’s probably understandable given that it was Valentine’s Day, with multiple table reservations and a large menu to manage. That said, we’ll definitely be back for the okonomiyaki next time on a less busy day!

Incredible! Such lovely service at this restaurant, as attentive and skilled as 5 star restaurants. All the food was delicious and the table cooking really adds interest to your meal. We spent over 2 hours here for lunch slowly working our way through 5 dishes. There is no rush and the atmosphere is very welcoming to stay and enjoy your time. The iced green tea was such high quality. Dessert incredible and I don’t even love desserts. Everything in between was so meticulously crafted you could not fault anything. Will revisit soon. Great for a special occasion where you want to spend time with friends or family.

Best experience I ever had. Arrived a bit early with my parents in law as were too tired from walking all day, and the table was already cleaned and waiting for us. The service is nothing short of impeccable, the waiter served food, explaining every single detail and demonstrating the secret ritual of making really yummy and authentic okonomi-yaki. Everyone is smiling and surrounds you with such delicate care. I’ve been there like 5 times already, but the food is so tasty, I dream of coming back again and again. I think it’s my top London restaurant and definitely deserves a Michelin star for the delicious food and incredibly service they provide.

Came in for me and my partner four year anniversary was blown away by the food, excellent service and great vibe in this fantastic restaurant. The food was excellent with them all except one being prepared in front of you. Will be returning soon as possible!

Every time I come it's a great experience. The staff are very helpful about guiding you through the options and always attentive to your needs. The ingredients are excellent and the food always excellent.
